There’s a new packing hack that’s sweeping TikTok — and if you have kids, you may want to listen up.
Some moms are using hanging, over-the-door shoe organizers to pack their children’s clothes for a vacation, and many are gushing over its amazing practicality.
One creator, Jade O’Neal, shared the hack in a video last month that reached over 2.6 million views on the social media app.
“If you’re traveling with a baby, this hack is about to change your life,” she announced in the 29-second clip.
O’Neal showed the hanging organizer that she had bought from Amazon and explained that she folded each different outfit that her daughter would be wearing into the different pockets — even accessories.
“I did three rows of outfits, and then swimsuits were their own row, pajamas were their own row, and put extras on the bottom,” she said.
The best baby travel hack if you’re traveling with a baby or kids 🙌 I bought a 2 pack of these over the door organizers off Amazon. I will pack my 4 year old’s outfits the same way for quick grab and go outfit and beach options on vacation. This really helps to not dig in a suitcase the whole trip and have everything ready to go. And as a bonus anyone can grab an outfit and help them get ready to go! Definitely try it for your next trip or vacation with your family. #travelingwithbabies #travelingwithkids #packinghack #momtipsandstricks #vacationwithkids #momtip #momhack #babytraveltips #babytravelmusthaves #babytravelhacks
The mom-of-two continued, “This folds up right in your suitcase, when you get to your destination you can just hang it on a door in your hotel room, and then everything is super accessible, ready to go, and you don’t have to dig around in a suitcase your entire vacation.”
She also shared clips demonstrating how exactly she folds up the organizer into her suitcase.
The mom also told The Post that she added her own twist — since her daughter was 12 months old at the time of travel, she added in a diaper for each day with each dinner outfit.
O’Neal said that the hack “worked like a dream.”
“It worked like a dream on our family vacation,” O’Neal told The Post. “We had every outfit from beach attire to nightly dinner outfits ready to grab and go all week long.
“It was so easy to see what you were picking without digging through a suitcase. We even had my daughters’ bows put away with each corresponding outfit. It was literally grab and go!”
And, this month, another creator, Stephanie Joplin, tried out the hack for herself — an endeavor that garnered 7.3 million views on TikTok.
“I tried the viral packing hack for your kids, and lemme tell you, it’s gonna be a game-changer,” Joplin, who goes by the username @betterwithchardonnay, gushed.
She explained that she organized her shoe hanger according to the different days her kids would be wearing the outfits.
“I am using this one organizer to pack two toddlers for a six-day trip,” she explained. “You can pack up all their outfits and then use the bottom part for any excess clothing, or other items that you need.”
O’Neal even said that the hack was a hit with her kids.
“My son is 4 and he loved being able to see all of the outfits and grab the one he wanted each day for the pool, beach, or dinner,” she explained to The Post. “Our hotel room was so clean and organized which is hard to do when you’re traveling with kids. I will definitely be doing this again anytime we travel. Makes it so easy to see what you have!”
And, although it’s unclear where exactly this hack first originated, it seems like other parents have tried out the hack in different ways, with some even using hanging cubbies to pack up their kids, seen on Cubbyathome.com in 2021.
In February, TikToker and content creator Desirae Barnett made a video demonstrating how she packs up her four kids for a five-day trip — and used the hanging cubbies to bring some of their clothes with them, garnering over 3 million views.
She also showed how she organized all of their snacks and toys, putting a lot of them into separate pouches.
In the comments section of Joplin’s video, many people were impressed by the hack and wanted to try it out for themselves.
“This is perfect for my tiny apartment!!!” one user wrote. “Thank you!!!”
Another agreed, typing, “OMG this is pure genius.”
“I’m so going to try this for our holiday next year,” someone else seconded.
