The Style Sisters, Gemma Lilly and Charlotte Reddington, have shared their favourite budget storage products that will help you get organised and make the most of your space

If there’s one thing that many of us are guilty of, it’s letting our home become disorganised and cluttered.

Enter the Style Sisters, who have gained a loyal fan and celebrity following on social media due to their clever hacks and quick tricks to organise your home and restore peace and harmony amongst the chaos.

Gemma Lilly and Charlotte Reddington, who are not actually sisters but best of friends, are in hot demand from their celebrity clients, recently organising the kitchen pantry for Rochelle Humes, walk-in wardrobe for Mark Wright and closet for Vicky Pattison.

Their philosophy is simple. Tidy house, tidy mind. And everything must have a home.

“Clutter has such a negative effect on the mind and you can keep tidying and tidying but if you have poor storage solutions, clutter will continue to build,’ Gemma tells OK! when we sat down with them.

“When you get home after a manic day at work, you just want everything organised and in its place so you can switch off and relax,” Charlotte adds.

And if budget is your concern, do not fear. Here, the girls share with OK! their top ten storage solutions that are under £20 and perfect for keeping everything ship-shape...

There’s nothing that’s more of an eye sore than a growing pile of dirty washing so instead, invest in an aesthetically pleasing laundry hamper that will blend in with your home’s interior design.

This linen option from Homebase is just £12 and is collapsible for maximum space-saving. Plus, the linen storage bag can be machine-washed.

If you’re willing to spend a bit more, try one with dividers to keep your whites, lights and dark separate.

If you’re not blessed with your own A list-style walk-in wardrobe, you’ll need to make the most of your wardrobe space. And something that can take up too much room are bulky hangers.

“Slimline hangers are a must-have,” Charlotte says. “You save so much space, plus the velvet fabric on these hangers will protect delicate clothing.”

Small bedroom? Don’t neglect the space underneath your bed. Especially as it’s a bulky piece of furniture that already takes up so much space. If your bed is flat on the floor, search Amazon for furniture risers that can lift it off the ground.

Charlotte says: “It doesn’t have to be anything special as it’s going to be hidden under your bed for the most part. But find something that you can easily slide in and out.”

This option from Tesco has the capacity for 68 L and the upper transparent window helps you see your storage and also protect it from dust.

The organising duo are big fans of the label maker, as it helps to identify everything and make it easy to find.

“It’s also ideal for helping other family members find things,” Gemma says. This option from Tesco is such a bargain find too and requires no batteries.

Our clothing needs to change from season to season. In winter, we may grab for our chunky knits and fleece-lined coats and in summer we want our linen trousers, cropped tops and sun hats. There’s no need to waste storage on summer items in winter and vice versa.

“Adopt more of a seasonal wardrobe,” Gemma explains. Go through your clothes and look at the items you only wear in the winter and the summer. You can store items not in use in vacuum pack bags that will reduce in size and easily fit under your bed or in your wardrobe if you lay them flat at the bottom.”

“You could even use your suitcase to store them,” Charlotte says. “You only use your suitcases for holidays so that's a few weeks out of the year. The rest of the time they could be used for storage.”

These large bags available at Dunelm compress your items and help protect them from mould or dust. They have glowing reviews and are less than a tenner.

When you think of a Lazy Susan, you may assume they're just used for serving food at dinner parties or storing your spice and herbs. But Gemma and Charlotte insist they're multi-functional.

"They're a lifesaver around the house," Gemma says. "We use them in the kids' rooms and bathrooms. If you pop them in a deep cupboard, you just rotate to get what you need so no item or product is ever lost or out of reach."

This option from Amazon is such a bargain and has a clear design to blend in with your home.

If you find your paperwork building up or lack any type of filing system, trying placing important documents in box files. "It takes no time to place the paperwork in a box file," Gemma says. "So if you're busy during the week, set aside a time where you can go through it all, sort it and make sure you're on top of it.

“But having a designated place in your home that's within reach means you're unlikely to misplace anything."

This one from Tesco is inexpensive and even has a label that you can use to make notes or add the last date that you sorted through.

Just like with your bed, don't neglect your doors for also providing storage solutions. In this case, try over the door storage that can easily hook on.

"Clutter builds so having something over the door in your bathroom is perfect," Charlotte says. "There's also things you can hang over your shower screen or bath. Make use of it all!"

These baskets from Matalan are such a stylish choice. The industrial black steel against the wooden shelves looks so modern. Place in your bathroom and use for spare toilet rolls and soaps or in your kitchen for spices and herbs.

If you’ve got kids, you’ll know how easy it is for their toys to start taking over your living room, kitchen... and every other room, for that matter.

This design from Next is less than a tenner and also has an eye-catching geo design.

Charlotte says: “Every parent knows how easy it is for their home to suddenly look like a soft play centre. If you want an easy way to restore calm and a home that looks like it’s made for adults, invest in stylish storage boxes that blend in with your interiors. After bedtime, chuck everything in. Plus, this design is foldable so if it’s not in use you can store it away.”

Need somewhere for your keys in the hallway? Or a designated place for your tea towels? Or how about a modern storage solution for pots, pans and utensils? Decorative hooks are perfect as they won't take up too much space and they're easy to install and remove when you feel like it.

Gemma says: "Use hooks to hang small items. It's such a simple solution and you can get some really gorgeous designs that look great. Some Command Strips are designed for heavier weights, so you don't need to use nails and they come off without damaging your paint or walls."

These gold hooks from Amazon are such a steal and will look great in every room.

Dividers are such an easy way to utilise the space in your drawers, whether that’s your kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.

“In your bedroom, these dividers create order and stop things like your underwear drawer becoming a huge mess. It also encourages you to keep socks in pairs, to avoid having an array of odd socks all over the place!” Charlotte says.

These bamboo dividers are adjustable in size so they can fit into any drawer and they look really modern and stylish.

"Keeping your fridge organised with storage boxes avoids spills and leaks and makes clean up even easier. Plus, there's loads of storage boxes that are stackable so you can create even more space per shelf," Charlotte says.

This design from Wayfair comes as a pack of two and are stackable and freezer-safe.
