School is coming to an end and many students are heading to start their first year at university. It can be intimidating trying to figure out what you need to bring. According to Business Insider with some additions of our own, here are 15 dorm essentials that are necessary for your first year at college.

Dorms often mean communal bathrooms shared with lots of other students. A good pair of waterproof flip flops prevent slippage and protect your feet.

A shower caddy is a great way to keep your personal items organized and make trips to the shower much easier with everything in one place.

When it comes to making decisions for your dorm, keep in mind that you'll probably be using these decorations for the coming years. Especially in a dorm, you'll be sharing your space with someone else, so make sure you're consulting with roommates.

Similar to making mindful decisions about decorations, it's important to invest in a long-lasting laundry basket that is good quality and has a pattern or color that you will like for the coming years.

Dorm rooms come with limited space, so investing in a power strip is important so you can keep all your devices charged and ready for class!

Dorms beds are notoriously uncomfortable. Save yourself the backpain and invest in a comfy mattress topper.
